The astroparticle physics working group witnessed intense discussion and activity covering a broad range of topics ranging from supergravity and baryogenesis to compact stars and the large scale structure of the Universe. A summary of some of the subject areas in which collaborations were initiated during WHEPP-5 is presented below.

Higher-dimensional string theory in Lyra geometry
F Rahaman S Chakraborty S Das M Hossain J Bera
In this paper, a study on string theory has been done in five-dimensional space-time based on Lyra geometry. Also a polynomial relation between the two scale factors is assumed. The equations of state for strings have been used for different solutions

Bianchi-IX string cosmological model in Lyra geometry
F Rahaman S Chakraborty N Begum M Hossain M Kalam
A class of cosmological solutions of massive strings for the Bianchi-IX space-time are obtained within the framework of Lyra geometry. Various physical and kinematical properties of the models are discussed

Homoclinic bifurcation in Chua’s circuit
S K Dana S Chakraborty G Ananthakrishna
We report our experimental observations of the Shil’nikov-type homoclinic chaos in asymmetry-induced Chua’s oscillator. The asymmetry plays a crucial role in the related homoclinic bifurcations. The asymmetry is introduced in the circuit by forcing a DC voltage. For a selected asymmetry, when a system parameter is controlled, we observed transition from large amplitude limit cycle to homoclinic chaos via a sequence of periodic mixed-mode oscillations interspersed by chaotic states. Moreover, we observed two intermediate bursting regimes. Experimental evidences of homoclinic chaos are verified with PSPICE simulations.

This is the report of the cosmology and astroparticle physics working group at WHEPPXI. We present the discussions carried out during the workshop on selected topics in the above fields. The problems discussed concerned axions, infrared divergences in inflationary theories, supersonic bubbles in a first-order electroweak phase transition, dark matter, MOND, interacting dark energy, composite Higgs models and statistical anisotropy of the Universe.
