    • Some neutral current effects in an SU(3)×U(1) gauge model

      The anomalous magnetic moment of muon is calculated in anSU(3)×U(1) gauge model proposed by Gupta and Mani. We find the contribution due to the intermediate gauge bosons to be of the same order of magnitude as in Weinberg. Salam model. The deep-inelastic structure functions are also analysed in the same model and inequalities for the structure functions are obtained in the light-cone algebra approach.

      The mixing angles for the vector and pseudoscalar meson isosinglets are obtained in a non-relativistic quark model. Schwinger-type mass relations are also obtained for SU(4) and SU(5). Quark contents of different meson isosinglets are computed which agree well with similar estimation of Maki and co-workers and Boal.

      The mixing angles of meson isosinglets belonging to the 24-dimensional and singlet representations of SU(5) are calculated under specific assumptions in the non-relativistic quark model. The procedure to extend the scheme to SU(N) has been outlined. The results have been compared with other earlier estimates.

      In a non-relativistic quark model, by parametrizing the quark-antiquark potentials, some mass relations have been obtained. Algebraic expressions for the masses of higher flavour meson isosinglets have been given in terms of the meson masses of lower symmetries. Hallock and Oneda’s contention of two types of sumrules for nonet mesons in SU(3) has been examined and the possibilities of such different sum-rules of this type in SU(4) and SU(5) have been explored.
