Eight cyanine dyes includingbis-pyrrolidinylpenthamethinecyanineperchlorate (BPC),bis-dimethylamino-heptamethine cyanine perchlorate (BMC), 3,3′-diethyloxadicarbocyanine iodide (DODCI) and 6 differently substituted 3,3′-diethyloxacarbocyanines have been investigated by means of conventional flash photolysis absorption and emission spectroscopy. Two photoisomers were detected with all dyes except DODCI (only one) and BMC (three isomers).
