The complexation reactions of La(III), Ce(III), Pr(III), Nd(III) and Sm(III) ions with pyrogallol have been studied by potentiometric method at various ionic strengths and temperatures. In acidic solutions, the formation of monopyrogallolate derivative of these metal ions has been indicated even in the presence of large excess of pyrogallol. The thermodynamic stability contants and thermodynamic parameters are also reported.

The reactions of anhydrous Zr(IV), Nb(V) and W(VI) chloride with tetraphenylstibonium chloride and triphenylantimony dichloride have been studeid. Tetraphenylstibonium chloride was found to form ionic complexes with the anhydrous chlorides of metals whereas triphenylantimony dichloride formed adducts involving chlorine bridges. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Only tungsten(V) chloride was reduced when reacted with triphenylstibine.

Potentiometric investigations on the binary and ternary complexes of the type MA, MB and MAB have been carried out, where M(II)=Co(II) and Ni(II); A-iminodiacetic acid (IMDA) and B=oxydiacetic acid (ODAA). The formation constants and free energies of formation for binary and ternary complexes have been reported.
