    • Synthesis, characterization and photophysical studies of Β-triazolomethyl-bridged porphyrin-benzo-α-pyrone dyads

      DILEEP KUMAR SINGH MAHENDRA NATH

      More Details Abstract Fulltext PDF

A new series of zinc(II)β-triazolomethyl-bridged porphyrin-benzo-α-pyrone dyads have beensynthesized in appreciable yields through a copper(I)-catalyzed “click” reaction of zinc(II) 2-azidomethyl-5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin with various benzo-α-pyronoalkynes. These novel zinc(II) porphyrin-benzo-

α-pyrone dyads successfully underwent demetallation in the presence of concentrated hydrochloric acid inchloroform at 25◦C to form the corresponding free-base porphyrin analogues in good yields. The newly synthesizedproducts were characterized on the basis of spectral data and evaluated for their electronic absorptionand fluorescence properties. Some of these molecules have shown a significant intramolecular energy transferbetween the benzo-α-pyrone and porphyrin subunits

    • Inclusion complexation of tetrabutylammonium iodide by cyclodextrins

BISWAJIT DATTA ADITI ROY MAHENDRA NATH ROY

      More Details Abstract Fulltext PDF

Host-guest inclusion complex of an ionic solid (tetrabutyl ammonium iodide) with α- and β- cyclodextrin has been explored by various physicochemical and spectroscopic methods. Surface tension and conductivity studies indicated 1:1 stoichiometry of the inclusion complexes and ¹H NMR and FT-IR studies substantiated the inclusion phenomenon. Density, viscosity and refractive index studies characterized the interactions of cyclodextrin with tetrabutyl ammonium iodide, which also indicated greater extent of encapsulation in β-cyclodextrin than in α-cyclodextrin. Hydrophobic effect, structural effect, electrostatic force and H-bonding interactions were mainly exploited to explicate the formation of inclusion complex.
