  NiL₂X₂ complex and its adducts of the type NiL (base), where L is a 2-hydroxy-acetophenonethiosemicarbazone, X=C1 and base (ammonia, pyridine, aniline,o-, m-, p-toluidine and water) have been synthesized and characterised by analysis, magnetic moments, electronic and infrared spectra.

  Co(HMAT)₂Cl and Co(HMAT)₂ base H have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic moments, electronic and infrared spectral measurements. The results show them to be low spin octahedral in nature. Various parameters have been calculated using ligand field theory of spin-allowed transitions.
