Influence of nickel addition on magnetic and electro-mechanical behaviour of permalloys
Kiran Gupta K K Raina S K Sinha
Magnetic and electro-mechanical investigations have been carried out in two Ni–Fe permalloys under hydrogen atmosphere by varying annealing temperature. These alloys have been characterized for various magnetic parameters like peak permeability, coercivity and core loss under changed annealing profile conditions. The magnetic properties of Ni-rich (Ni ∼ 82%) alloy at 100 Hz were found to be better than the low Ni (Ni ∼ 47%) alloy. The alloys were tested for watch movement and found that the battery life of the watch movement improved by 38% using Ni-rich permalloy.

Liquid crystals dispersed in polymer systems constitute novel class of optical materials. The precise control of the liquid crystal droplet morphology in the polymer matrix is essentially required to meet the prerequisites of display device. Experiments have been carried out to investigate and identify the material properties and processing conditions required for the precise control of the droplet morphology of the dispersed liquid crystal systems. Polarization switching has been studied. Aligned liquid crystal dispersed systems showed higher polarization over unaligned ones.

Dielectric behaviour of Pb-substituted BZT ceramics
Parveen Kumar Sangeeta Singh J K Juneja K K Raina Chandra Prakash
Material series with compositional formula Ba1.0–𝑥Pb𝑥Ti0.90Zr0.10O3 (0 ≤ 𝑥 ≤ 0.20, in steps of 0.05) were prepared by conventional solid state method. All the samples were subjected to X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies and found to be single phase with perovskite structure. SEM measurements were done in order to collect micro-structural information. Different transition temperatures were found to depend on the Pb content. Tetragonality (𝑐/𝑎) and Curie temperature (𝑇c) increase with increase in lead content 𝑥. Dielectric properties were studied as a function of temperature and frequencies.
