This work presents a fast and efficient approach to prepare an anti-fouling and highly electrocatalyst rGO material based on the oxidation-assisted sonication method. By modifying the Hummer’s method, the proposed approach uses non-harmful reducing agents, minimizes the synthesis time and optimize the design of rGO structure. The synthesized rGO sheets were characterized with Fourier transformation spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and cyclic voltammetry. The rGO sheets-based nanocomposite can greatly eliminate the fouling effect of the glassy carbon electrode surface and enhances remarkably the analytical performance of the phenol sensors. Under optimal conditions, using chronoamperometry in 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution (pH=7) at the potential of 0.68 V, the new sensor based-rGO sheets display a wide linear range of phenol concentration (2–68 ${\mu}$M), with low detection limit and exhibit high sensitivity of1,0157 ${\mu}$A ${\mu}$M$^{–1}$ cm$^{–2}$.
