The metabolic adaptations of the male and female species ofTanqua tiara Linstow, 1879, to the microenvironment in the stomach of its hostTropidonotus piscator and the adaptation of the organ to the presence of tht parasite are studied. The parasites adapt by storing glycogen, by possessing free glucose, by diverting the pathway to PEP-malate-succinate type. The stomach adapts to the presence of parasites by increasing its glycogen, free glucose, Pyruvate and Phosphatases. The SDH, LDH and MDH activities arc lowered suggesting the operation of Kreb’s cycle.
