Supramolecular chemistry as defined by Lehn ‘chemistry beyondthe molecule’ focuses on the development of functionalcomplex architectures through non-covalent interactions. Theyear 2017, marked the fiftieth anniversary of the serendipitousdiscovery of crown ethers. Since then, the field is growing, and due to the efforts of various researchers now it is possibleto have some control over the arrangement of things on asmall scale. In this review article, the concept of supramolecularchemistry, cooperativity responsible for interactions, techniquesfor determination of thermodynamic parameters ofcooperativity, and the contribution of supramolecular chemistryto nanotechnology is described.
