    • Abstract

       

      The reaction between benzyl chlorides and thiols is catalysed efficiently by a new basic clay, Cat-1 prepared by introducing 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane into clay interlayers of K-10 and KSF montmorillonites, as well as bentonite clays affording high yields of the corresponding sulphides.
