    • Abstract

       

      Two naturally occurring benzopyranones, lespedezaflavanone-B and amorilin have been synthesised from the same chalcone. Prenylation of the chalcone using prenyl bromide affords mono- and di-prenylated chalcones which on cyclization followed by demethoxymethylation furnishes the respective benzopyranones.
