The magnetic properties of some amorphous metallic materials of the formula M2SnTe4, where M=Cr, Mn, and Fe, are presented. The materials exhibit anomalous magnetic behavior at low temperatures. The field cooled and zero field cooled d.c. magnetic susceptibilities show different behavior when measured below the transition temperature. The materials exhibit a thermal remanent magnetization and isothermal remanent magnetization that is consistent with that of a spin glass. The spin glass freezing temperatures for these materials are 18 K, 11 K, and 12 K for M=Cr, Mn, andFe, respectively.
