    • Abstract

       

      5,5′-dithiodisalicylhydroxamic acid (dtdsha) has been synthesized and its solubility in water at different temperatures, spectral characteristics, andpKa values are reported. The reactivity with inorganic ions, in aqueous media, by extraction with benzenic solution of trioctylmethylammonium chloride (Adogen 464), and on ion-exchange resins have been investigated. Its low selectivity can be increased by appropriate control of pH, the use of masking agents, or by extraction.
