Women Associates of IASc

 

The Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS) has started the Associateship programme in 1983 to identify and encourage promising young scientists. The Associateship is tenable for a maximum period of 5 years until the age of 35 or a minimum period of 3 years. Since its inception 36 women and 346 men have become the Associates of the Academy.

Currently there are 51 Associates on rolls of the Academy out of which there are 11 Women Associates and 40 Men Associates.

      We are very sorry to announce the untimely demise of Prof. Charusita Chakravarty, one of the stars of our community of women scientists, at a young age of 52, after a valiant battle with cancer, today on 29th March 2016 in Delhi. May her memory inspire many a young women in the coming years!
