A Series Born Out of Resonance

Echoes from Resonance is a series born out of Resonance, putting together in a coherent manner selected articles taken from Resonance on specific subjects. ‘Probability and Statistics’ is the first in this series. The articles in the book (which appeared in Resonance during 1996-98, that is, Volumes 1, 2 and 3) range over various aspects of probability theory, statistical decision theory, stochastic processes, sampling, model building, etc. Besides covering basic ideas in a reader-friendly way, they provide glimpses into realms where probability and statistics are applied. The book can complement what students of mathematics/statistics and other branches of science/engineering learn in their regular courses. More volumes in the series covering other subjects are expected to come out soon.
