Refresher Course
on Interdisciplinary Approaches in Biology

A Refresher Course on “Interdisciplinary Approaches in Biology” for postgraduate college and university teachers will be held at the CCMB, Hyderabad from May25-June 8, 2005.

Modern biology uses concepts and methods from other sciences to elucidate the working of life processes. Measurement and analyses of biological data employ quantitative methods from physics, chemistry, engineering, information technology, mathematics and statistics. Prediction and description of life processes also make use of concepts from other disciplines. This course will introduce biology teachers to some of these aspects in relation to specific biological problems. The aim is to expose the interdisciplinary nature of modern biology with lectures, tutorials, and hands-on problem-solving sessions.

Postgraduate College and University teachers who wish to participate in this Refresher Course should submit their brief curriculum vitae (including name, date of birth, sex, educational qualification from BSc onwards, postgraduate teaching experience, courses taught, positions held, postal and email addresses with phone numbers etc.), along with a brief write-up as to why they would like to participate in this course and their expectations from the course.

Preference will be given to teachers below 45 years of age. Selected participants will be provided local hospitality (in twin-share basis) and round trip bus and train fare (I Class or 3-tier AC) by the shortest route.
