questions likely to be raised in a classroom situation. We may suggest
strategies for dealing with them, or invite responses, or both. Classroom
is equally a forum for raising broader issues and sharing personal experiences
and viewpoints on matters related to teaching and learning science. Area and Volume of a Spherical Cap Revisited In [1], Makesh Pravin computed the area of a spherical
cap in terms of the distance $L$ between its center and its base, using
spherical coordinates and double integrals. However the result can be
obtained more simply. We show how, below, and derive the -- [1] J Makesh Pravin, Symmetry on a sphere, Resonance, Vol. 7, No. 7, pp. 84-85, July 2002.
