Defect correlation in liquid crystal: Experimental
verification of cosmological Kibble mechanism

Abstract.
In this talk we present observation of correlated production of strength one defects and anti-defects formed in isotropic-nematic phase transition in NLC. We find the width s of the distribution of net winding number, to be in good agreement with the value predicted by the Kibble mechanism for defect production.
